Operation Claret : A series of covert British and Commonwealth cross-border operations in Indonesian Borneo during Konfrontasi. Its secret incursions answered Indonesian infiltration while keeping the conflict largely undeclared.
Formation of Malaysia : The 1963 creation of Malaysia by joining Malaya, Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak. The federation’s formation was the direct object of Indonesia’s opposition.
Sukarno : Indonesia’s president from 1945 to 1967, who launched and led the policy of Konfrontasi against Malaysia. His campaign made opposition to Malaysia a central element of Indonesian foreign policy.
