Labrador Retriever

The Labrador Retriever is a medium-to-large dog breed developed in Newfoundland and standardized in Britain. It is known for a friendly temperament and versatility as a working and companion dog.

St. John's water dog: An extinct Newfoundland dog type regarded as an ancestor of several modern retriever breeds. The Labrador developed from Newfoundland dogs of this type.
Gundog: A dog trained to help hunters locate or retrieve game birds and other quarry. Labradors were developed for retrieving and remain widely used in hunting.
