Lake Athabasca

Lake Athabasca is a large freshwater lake on the Alberta–Saskatchewan border in Canada. It lies at the head of the Mackenzie River system and drains north toward the Arctic Ocean.

Athabasca River: A major river in Alberta that flows northeast into Lake Athabasca. It supplies the lake from the south and west.
Canadian Shield: A vast region of ancient exposed bedrock covering much of eastern and northern Canada. Its rocky terrain borders the lake and shapes parts of its eastern basin.
