Lancashire

Lancashire is a county in north-west England, encompassing coastal towns and rural areas and shaped by a major role in Britain’s textile and industrial history.

Lancaster: A city in north-west England and the historic county town of Lancashire. The county takes its name from Lancaster, whose castle and status shaped its historic identity.
County palatine of Lancaster: A historic jurisdiction in which the Duke of Lancaster exercised powers normally held by the Crown. The palatine status gave Lancashire a distinctive legal and administrative history.
