Land (property)

Land in property law is a defined area of ground together with legally recognized rights to possess, use, transfer, or exclude others from it. Those rights may include interests in buildings, minerals, water, and other resources.

Zoning: Local regulation dividing areas into districts with rules for land uses and development. Zoning determines which buildings and activities a parcel can support.
Public land: Land owned or controlled by a government for public purposes or administration. It contrasts with parcels held in private ownership.
Land monopoly: Concentrated control of land that can restrict access or influence its price and use. Exclusive ownership of scarce sites can confer economic and political power.
