Late Cretaceous

The second epoch of the Cretaceous Period, lasting from about 100.5 to 66 million years ago. It ended with the mass extinction that eliminated all non-avian dinosaurs.

Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event: A mass extinction about 66 million years ago that eliminated roughly three-quarters of species, including all non-avian dinosaurs. This event marks the epoch’s end and reshaped life on Earth.
