LazyTown

LazyTown is an Icelandic children’s television series that combines live action, puppetry, music, and acrobatics to promote healthy habits.

Magnús Scheving: Magnús Scheving is an Icelandic athlete, writer, and television producer who created and starred in LazyTown. He created the series and played its energetic hero, Sportacus.
Puppetry: Puppetry is the art of animating figures to perform through direct manipulation or mechanical control. Puppet characters let LazyTown give its residents expressive, nonhuman appearances.
Physical activity: Physical activity is bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that uses energy. The show repeatedly presents movement as a playful alternative to sitting still.
Áfram Latibær: Áfram Latibær is the Icelandic stage production that introduced the characters and ideas later developed into LazyTown. It was the theatrical precursor to the television series.

Stephanie (LazyTown): Stephanie is a pink-haired girl who encourages LazyTown’s residents to be active and imaginative. Her arrival gives the town a cheerful voice for the show’s healthy-habit themes.
Puppetronics: Puppetronics combines puppetry with electronic or mechanical systems to control a puppet’s movements. The series used engineered puppets to make its residents perform alongside human actors.
Healthy diet: A healthy diet supplies nutrients in suitable amounts while limiting foods that undermine health. Sportacus favors fruit and other nutritious foods, making food choices part of the series’ message.
Latibær: Latibær is the Icelandic name for LazyTown and the fictional town at the center of the franchise. The television series developed the setting first introduced in the Icelandic stage project.
European Broadcasting Union: The European Broadcasting Union is an alliance of public service media organizations in Europe and beyond. Its members helped bring LazyTown to broadcasters across multiple countries.
