Lê Lợi

Lê Lợi was a Vietnamese leader who led the Lam Sơn uprising against Ming rule and founded the Later Lê dynasty, reigning as emperor from 1428 to 1433.

Ming occupation of Vietnam: The Ming dynasty’s rule over Đại Việt from 1407 to 1427, following its conquest of the country. Its administration and extraction of resources prompted the resistance Lê Lợi led.
Nguyễn Trãi: A Vietnamese scholar and strategist who served Lê Lợi and authored influential writings for the uprising. His diplomacy and proclamations helped turn military resistance into a claim to legitimate rule.
Later Lê dynasty: A Vietnamese dynasty founded by Lê Lợi in 1428 that ruled, with interruptions, until 1789. It was the regime Lê Lợi established after defeating Ming rule.

Thanh Hóa: A province in north-central Vietnam with a long history as a political and military center. Lê Lợi’s home region supplied the uprising’s first stronghold and support.
Battle of Tốt Động–Chúc Động: A 1426 Vietnamese victory over Ming forces during the Lam Sơn uprising. This victory helped shift the campaign from survival toward decisive counteroffensives.
