Léopold Sédar Senghor

Léopold Sédar Senghor was a Senegalese poet, cultural theorist, and politician who served as Senegal’s first president from 1960 to 1980. He helped formulate Négritude, a movement affirming Black identity and culture.

Aimé Césaire: A Martinican poet and politician who co-founded the Négritude movement. Césaire and Senghor developed Négritude through friendship, correspondence, and shared literary commitments.
