Lev Yashin

Lev Yashin (1929–1990) was a Soviet football goalkeeper who spent his senior career at Dynamo Moscow and represented the Soviet Union. He is widely regarded as one of football’s greatest goalkeepers.

1960 European Nations' Cup: The inaugural European international football championship, won by the Soviet Union. Yashin helped the Soviet Union win its first major international tournament.
Goalkeeping: The specialized play of preventing goals and organizing defense from the goal area. Yashin's distinctive methods influenced how goalkeeping was understood and practiced.
