Lewis Pugh is a British-South African endurance swimmer and environmental advocate known for long-distance swims in polar and other extreme waters. He uses swimming expeditions to draw attention to ocean and freshwater protection.

Mile-a-Day Swim: Lewis Pugh’s 2007 swim along the length of the English Channel, covering roughly a mile each day. This staged Channel crossing was an early example of using a swim to spotlight marine protection.
