Lexicon

A lexicon is the vocabulary of a language or the set of words recognized by a particular game or system. It may include words, meanings, and information about how words are used.

Word: A linguistic unit that carries meaning and can stand alone or combine with other units. Words are the basic entries collected in a lexicon.
Dictionary: A reference work that lists words and gives information such as meanings, pronunciation, or usage. Dictionaries are common published presentations of a language lexicon.
Thesaurus: A reference work that groups words by related meanings, often listing synonyms and antonyms. A thesaurus organizes semantic relationships, unlike a general lexicon's broader word inventory.

Lexeme: An abstract vocabulary unit that groups the inflected forms of a word. A lexicon may represent related forms such as run and runs under one entry.
Scrabble: A board game in which players form words from letter tiles to score points. Its permitted words are determined by a specified lexicon.
Corpus linguistics: The study of language using collections of texts or recordings assembled as corpora. A corpus records language use in context, while a lexicon organizes vocabulary entries.
Loanword: A word adopted from one language into another. Borrowed words reveal how contact between languages changes lexical membership.
