Li Zicheng

Li Zicheng was a Chinese rebel leader whose forces captured Beijing in 1644, ending Ming rule there and opening the way for the Qing conquest.

Late Ming dynasty: The final period of the Ming dynasty, marked by fiscal strain, rebellions, and growing military pressure. Its weakening government created the conditions in which Li's rebellion expanded.
