Liu Bocheng

Liu Bocheng was a Chinese Communist military commander and statesman, one of the founding marshals of the People’s Republic of China. He helped lead the Red Army and People’s Liberation Army through major campaigns and later shaped military education.

Deng Xiaoping: Chinese Communist revolutionary and statesman who led the People’s Republic of China from 1978 to 1989. He and Liu jointly commanded the Second Field Army during the Chinese Civil War.
Long March: The Chinese Communist Red Army’s strategic retreat across China from 1934 to 1936. Liu commanded forces during the march and helped guide the Red Army through Sichuan.
People’s Liberation Army: The armed forces of the People’s Republic of China, founded in 1927 as the Red Army. Liu’s command career helped shape the force that became China’s national military.

Second Field Army: A major People’s Liberation Army formation commanded by Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping during the Chinese Civil War. This was Liu’s principal wartime command in the campaigns that established Communist rule.
Xinhai Revolution: The 1911 revolution that ended the Qing dynasty and established the Republic of China. Liu joined revolutionary forces as a young soldier during the upheaval that toppled the dynasty.
People’s Republic of China: A sovereign state established in 1949 that governs mainland China. The military victory Liu helped secure established the state whose institutions he later served.
