Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha is the directly elected lower house of India's Parliament. It represents constituencies across India and exercises legislative, financial, and executive-oversight powers.

Lok Sabha elections: The general elections that choose members of India's Lok Sabha from territorial constituencies. These elections determine the house's composition and political majority.
Parliament of India: India's national legislature, consisting of the President, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha is one of the two houses within this constitutional institution.
Constituent Assembly of India: The body that drafted India's Constitution before the country became a republic. Its constitutional design established the elected lower house and its powers.
Prime Minister of India: The head of India's Union government and chair of the Council of Ministers. The prime minister and ministry depend on support in the Lok Sabha.

Rajya Sabha: The upper house of India's Parliament, representing states and union territories through an indirectly elected membership. Its composition and powers differ from those of the directly elected Lok Sabha.
