Lope de Vega

Lope de Vega (1562–1635) was a Spanish playwright and poet whose prolific works helped shape the Spanish Golden Age. His plays include Fuenteovejuna and The Dog in the Manger.

Spanish Golden Age: A period of flourishing Spanish literature and arts, broadly spanning the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Lope became one of the era’s defining literary figures.
