Loretta Lynn

Loretta Lynn (1932–2022) was an American country singer-songwriter whose songs drew on working-class life, marriage, motherhood, and women’s independence. Her signature works include “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “The Pill.”

Coal Miner's Daughter: A 1970 autobiographical song by Loretta Lynn about her childhood in rural Kentucky. Its direct account of her upbringing became her signature song and the title of her autobiography.
