Lotfi A. Zadeh

Lotfi A. Zadeh was a mathematician and computer scientist who founded fuzzy set theory and developed fuzzy logic, frameworks for reasoning with degrees of membership and imprecise information.

Fuzzy set theory: A theory in which elements can belong to a set to varying degrees between zero and one. Zadeh introduced this framework in 1965 to represent categories with gradual boundaries.
Fuzzy control: A control method that uses fuzzy rules and membership functions to map inputs to actions. It became a prominent engineering application of Zadeh’s fuzzy logic.
