Louis-Eugène Cavaignac

Louis-Eugène Cavaignac was a French general and politician who commanded the suppression of the June Days uprising in 1848 and briefly led the Second Republic’s government.

June Days uprising: A workers’ revolt in Paris in June 1848, suppressed by the French army and National Guard. Cavaignac directed the government forces that crushed the uprising.
