Louis Hjelmslev

Louis Hjelmslev was a Danish linguist who developed glossematics, a formal structuralist theory of language that analyzes relations among signs and their components.

Glossematics: A formal theory of language developed by Louis Hjelmslev that analyzes linguistic structures through relations and oppositions. This is Hjelmslev’s best-known theory and the framework that gives his terminology its purpose.
