Louis I of Hungary

Louis I of Hungary, known as Louis the Great, ruled Hungary and Croatia from 1342 to 1382 and Poland from 1370 to 1382. His reign extended Angevin power across Central Europe.

Angevin Kingdom of Hungary: The Hungarian kingdom ruled by the Angevin dynasty from 1301 to 1395. Louis inherited and strengthened this dynasty’s rule over Hungary.
Charles I of Hungary: King of Hungary from 1308 to 1342 who consolidated Angevin rule in the kingdom. Louis succeeded his father and inherited a strengthened monarchy.
Mary, Queen of Hungary: Louis’s daughter who ruled Hungary from 1382 to 1395, initially under her mother’s regency. Louis arranged for Mary to inherit the Hungarian crown.
