Louis-Jules Trochu

Louis-Jules Trochu was a French army officer and politician who led the Government of National Defense during the Franco-Prussian War and the Siege of Paris.

Léon Gambetta: A French republican politician who organized resistance after the Second Empire fell in 1870. As a leading member of the Government of National Defense, he pressed for continued resistance beyond besieged Paris.
