Loyalty

Loyalty is a durable commitment or allegiance to a person, group, institution, or cause, often expressed through support and continued affiliation.

Trust: Trust is confidence that someone or something is reliable, honest, or capable. Loyalty often grows from trust and can reinforce it through reliable support.
Social identity theory: Social identity theory explains how group memberships contribute to a person's self-concept and behavior. Identification with a group can turn membership into durable allegiance.
Organizational commitment: Organizational commitment is an employee's psychological attachment to and identification with an organization. It measures workplace allegiance and helps explain retention and effort.
Duty: Duty is a moral, legal, or role-based obligation to act or refrain from acting. Loyalty is one possible source of duty, but duties can also require resisting an ally.
Fidelity: Fidelity is faithfulness to a person, commitment, or standard. Fidelity names the steadfastness that loyalty expresses in relationships and commitments.
Reciprocity: Reciprocity is the practice of responding to a benefit or action with a corresponding one. Repeated mutual support can build loyalty between people and groups.
Brand loyalty: Brand loyalty is a consumer's repeated preference for a particular brand. Commercial loyalty turns continuing allegiance into repeat purchasing and advocacy.
Principle: A principle is a fundamental rule or proposition that guides judgment and conduct. Allegiance to a person or group can conflict with commitments to general principles.
Belonging: Belonging is the experience of being accepted as part of a group or community. Group loyalty can strengthen belonging by tying identity to shared membership.
Commitment: Commitment is a durable intention to uphold a decision, relationship, or course of action. Commitment describes the sustained choice that underlies many acts of loyalty.
