Ludovico Sforza
Ludovico Sforza, called il Moro, was Duke of Milan from 1494 to 1499 and a major patron of Renaissance art and scholarship.
Leonardo da Vinci: An Italian Renaissance artist, engineer, and inventor known for works including the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Ludovico employed Leonardo in Milan, where the artist worked on paintings, engineering projects, and court festivities.
Italian Wars: A series of conflicts fought in Italy from 1494 to 1559, involving major European powers and Italian states. The struggle for Milan under Ludovico helped initiate this prolonged contest.
