Lunda Empire

The Lunda Empire was a Central African state that emerged in the seventeenth century and expanded across parts of present-day Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia.

Mwata Yamvo: The title of the paramount ruler of the Lunda Empire and the name commonly used for the ruler’s state. The Mwata Yamvo headed the central court and embodied authority across the empire.
