Lyon Metro

The Lyon Metro is a rapid transit system serving Lyon, France. Its four lines form part of the TCL public transport network.

Line A (Lyon Metro): Line A is a Lyon Metro line connecting Perrache and Vaulx-en-Velin–La Soie. Its conventional trains run through the central east–west corridor.
Lyon funiculars: Lyon’s funiculars are steep-gradient urban railways connecting the city center with its hills. They formed part of the city’s earlier rail landscape and remain in the TCL network.
Gare de Lyon-Part-Dieu: Gare de Lyon-Part-Dieu is Lyon’s main railway station and a major hub for regional and national trains. Metro connections make it a key transfer point between rail and urban travel.
Lyon trolleybus: A Lyon trolleybus is an electric bus powered by overhead wires and operated on the city’s road network. Trolleybuses offer electric urban service without the metro’s dedicated railway infrastructure.
Line B (Lyon Metro): Line B is a Lyon Metro line linking Charpennes–Charles Hernu with Saint-Genis-Laval–Hôpital Lyon Sud. It uses automated operation and has been extended south to a major hospital.
Croix-Rousse railway: The Croix-Rousse railway was a Lyon rack railway opened in 1891 between Croix-Paquet and Croix-Rousse. Its route became the foundation of Metro Line C.
Perrache station: Perrache is a major railway and public transport interchange in central Lyon. It is the western terminus of Line A and links metro travel with trains and other services.
Lyon bus network: The Lyon bus network is the road-based public transit system serving Lyon and its metropolitan area. Buses provide flexible coverage beyond the metro’s fixed rail corridors.
Line C (Lyon Metro): Line C is a Lyon Metro line connecting Hôtel de Ville–Louis Pradel with Cuire. It preserves a steep, rack-operated railway alignment inherited from an earlier line.
Métro de Paris: The Métro de Paris is the rapid transit system serving Paris and its surrounding region. Lyon’s metro emerged later, with a different network scale and technical choices.
