Madame de Montespan

Françoise-Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart was a French noblewoman and the most prominent mistress of Louis XIV during the 1670s and 1680s.

Louis XIV: King of France from 1643 to 1715, whose long reign centralized royal authority and made Versailles a political center. Her relationship with the king brought her exceptional influence at the French court.
