Mahdia

A coastal city in Tunisia founded by the Fatimid caliph al-Mahdi in the early tenth century as a fortified capital. Its peninsula setting and harbor shaped its history as a political and maritime center.

Abd Allah al-Mahdi Billah: The founder of the Fatimid Caliphate and its first caliph, who ruled from 909 to 934. He founded Mahdia and made it the Fatimid state’s first capital.
