Malay Archipelago

The Malay Archipelago is the extensive island region between mainland Southeast Asia and Australia, encompassing Indonesia, the Philippines, and nearby islands.

Indonesia: An island country in Southeast Asia spanning much of the Malay Archipelago. Its many islands form the archipelago’s largest national portion.
Pacific Ring of Fire: A belt of frequent earthquakes and volcanoes surrounding much of the Pacific Ocean. Its tectonic activity formed and reshaped many volcanic islands in the eastern archipelago.

The Malay Archipelago (book): Alfred Russel Wallace’s 1869 travel and natural-history book about Southeast Asian islands. Its widely read title helped establish the region’s English name.
