Manuel Baquedano

Manuel Baquedano was a Chilean army general and politician who commanded Chilean forces during the War of the Pacific and briefly served as president in 1891.

Battle of Tacna: A decisive 1880 battle in the War of the Pacific in which Chile defeated a Peruvian-Bolivian allied army. Baquedano commanded Chilean forces in this victory, which opened the route toward Lima.
