Knowra Maranhão Maranhão Maranhão is a state in northeastern Brazil, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and home to the capital city of São Luís. Its landscapes range from Amazonian rainforest and cerrado to the coastal dunes and lagoons of Lençóis Maranhenses.
