March (music)

A musical composition or style with a regular, strongly accented meter suited to coordinated marching. Marches commonly use duple or quadruple meter and clear, repeated phrases.

Duple meter: A musical meter organized around recurring groups of two beats. Its alternating strong and weak beats commonly match the left-right rhythm of marching.
Military music: Music composed or performed for military duties, ceremonies, and troop morale. Marches are one of military music’s most recognizable forms.
