Marina Abramović

Marina Abramović is a Serbian conceptual and performance artist whose work tests endurance, presence, and the relationship between artist and audience.

Rhythm 0: A 1974 performance in which Abramović invited visitors to use 72 objects on her body as they wished. This early work made audience responsibility and the risks of passivity central.
Performance art: Art in which actions performed by artists or participants constitute the work. Abramović’s live actions exemplify a form whose medium is behavior in time.
