Martin Bucer

Martin Bucer (1491–1551) was a German Protestant reformer and theologian who sought to reconcile Lutheran and Reformed churches and helped shape the Reformation in Strasbourg and England.

Martin Luther: Martin Luther was a German theologian whose challenge to indulgences helped launch the Protestant Reformation. Bucer adopted reforming ideas associated with Luther but later disputed him over the Eucharist.
Colloquy of Marburg: The 1529 meeting where Martin Luther and Huldrych Zwingli failed to agree fully on the Lord’s Supper. Bucer took part in the talks that exposed the divisions his later diplomacy tried to bridge.
