Martin Waldseemüller

Martin Waldseemüller was a German cartographer whose 1507 world map was the first known map to name the newly depicted continent America.

Universalis Cosmographia: A large world map published by Martin Waldseemüller in 1507, among the first to depict the Americas separately from Asia and name them America. This map introduced the name America on a printed map.
