Marvin Minsky

Marvin Minsky was an American computer scientist and cognitive scientist who co-founded the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and helped establish artificial intelligence as a research field.

John McCarthy: John McCarthy was an American computer scientist who coined the term artificial intelligence and co-founded the field. McCarthy co-founded the MIT AI Laboratory with Minsky and helped organize the 1956 Dartmouth workshop.
Society of Mind: Society of Mind is Marvin Minsky’s theory that intelligence emerges from interactions among many simple mental agents. This is Minsky’s clearest account of how interacting processes can produce intelligent behavior.
SNARC: SNARC was an early neural-network machine built by Marvin Minsky and Dean Edmonds to model learning in a maze. Built in 1951, SNARC was Minsky’s first major demonstration that machines could model a form of learning.

Claude Shannon: Claude Shannon was an American mathematician and engineer who founded information theory and contributed to early artificial intelligence. Shannon’s information theory and early machine-learning experiments influenced the research culture Minsky entered.
K-lines: K-lines are hypothetical memory structures that reactivate patterns of mental activity associated with a previous state of thought. Minsky used K-lines to explain how recalling an idea could reinstate parts of the thinking that produced it.
