Mary Astell

Mary Astell (1666–1731) was an English philosopher and writer who argued for women’s education and examined their social and religious position.

Rationalism: A philosophical approach that treats reason as a primary source of knowledge. Astell used reason to challenge claims that women were naturally less capable than men.
