Matrouh Governorate

Matrouh Governorate is an administrative region in northwestern Egypt, stretching along the Mediterranean coast and encompassing the city of Marsa Matruh.

Marsa Matruh: A Mediterranean coastal city in northwestern Egypt and the capital of Matrouh Governorate. The governorate’s capital and largest urban center anchors its eastern coast.
North Coast (Egypt): Egypt’s Mediterranean coastal zone west of Alexandria, developed for seaside tourism and seasonal residences. Its resorts and beaches occupy much of Matrouh’s eastern coastal strip.

Western Desert: The arid region of western Egypt extending from the Nile Valley to the Libyan border. Most of Matrouh’s land area lies within this broad desert region.
Alexandria–Marsa Matruh railway: A railway route linking Alexandria with Marsa Matruh along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast. The line connects Matrouh’s main city with the country’s principal western coastal hub.
