Maya Plisetskaya

Maya Plisetskaya (1925–2015) was a Soviet and Russian ballet dancer, choreographer, and director, renowned as a leading ballerina of the Bolshoi Ballet.

The Dying Swan: A solo ballet created for Anna Pavlova in which a swan struggles through its final moments. Plisetskaya made this short solo one of her defining performances.
Sulamith Messerer: A Soviet ballerina, choreographer, and teacher who helped train generations of dancers. Her aunt helped raise Plisetskaya and supported her early ballet education.
Bolshoi Ballet: A Moscow ballet company founded in 1776 and internationally known for its classical repertory. Plisetskaya became one of its most prominent ballerinas and a lasting public face.
