Median Empire

The Median Empire was a kingdom centered in western Iran that dominated neighboring regions in the seventh and early sixth centuries BCE before Cyrus the Great defeated it.

Medes: An ancient Iranian people who established kingdoms across western Iran and the Zagros region. The empire was the political formation associated with this Iranian people.
