Megalosaurus

Megalosaurus is a genus of large carnivorous theropod dinosaurs from Middle Jurassic Europe, about 166 million years ago. It was the first non-avian dinosaur to be scientifically named.

Theropoda: Theropoda is a dinosaur group that includes mostly bipedal carnivores, as well as birds. Megalosaurus belongs to this broad group of mostly bipedal dinosaurs.
William Buckland: William Buckland was an English geologist and cleric who studied fossils and became Oxford University's first professor of geology. He formally described Megalosaurus in 1824.
Megalosaurus bucklandii: Megalosaurus bucklandii is the type species of the theropod dinosaur genus Megalosaurus. This species anchors the genus name and includes its best-known English fossils.
Richard Owen: Richard Owen was a British anatomist who coined the name Dinosauria in 1842. He used Megalosaurus as one of the three genera defining Dinosauria.

Megalosaurus bradleyi: Megalosaurus bradleyi is a theropod dinosaur species named from fossils found in Oxfordshire, England. Its remains are among the fossils historically assigned to Megalosaurus.
