Sodium chlorideRelated: The strong ionic lattice gives sodium chloride a high melting point.
Oleic acidRelated: Oleic acid’s kinked cis chain lowers its melting point relative to stearic acid.
Milk fatRelated: Milk fat melts over a range because it contains many different triglycerides.
FrostbiteRelated: Tissue freezing occurs below the effective freezing point of body fluids.
SupercoolingRelated: Supercooling describes liquid water below its equilibrium melting point.
