Mercia

Mercia was an Anglo-Saxon kingdom centered in the English Midlands. It became the dominant power in southern England during the 8th century before being absorbed into the kingdom of England.

Anglo-Saxon settlement of Britain: The migration and settlement of Germanic-speaking peoples in Britain from the fifth century onward. These migrations formed the communities from which Mercia emerged.
