Methyl orange

Methyl orange is a synthetic azo dye used as a pH indicator. It changes from red in acidic solutions to yellow in alkaline solutions, with an orange transition near pH 3.7.

Azo compound: An organic compound containing a nitrogen–nitrogen double bond connected to carbon groups. Methyl orange’s azo linkage forms the chromophore responsible for its visible color.
