MI5

MI5, formally the Security Service, is the United Kingdom’s domestic security and counterintelligence service. It investigates threats to national security but has no power to arrest.

Investigatory Powers Act 2016: A UK law governing the use of surveillance and other investigatory powers by public authorities. It sets statutory rules and oversight for MI5’s use of intrusive surveillance powers.
