Michael Ondaatje

Michael Ondaatje is a Sri Lankan-born Canadian novelist and poet whose works, including The English Patient and In the Skin of a Lion, blend historical material with lyrical, fragmented storytelling.

The English Patient: Michael Ondaatje’s novel about four people living in an Italian villa near the end of World War II. Its fragmented wartime narrative became his best-known work and won the Booker Prize.
Fragmented narrative: A storytelling structure that presents events out of chronological order or in discontinuous pieces. Ondaatje uses gaps and recollections to make the past emerge gradually.
