Middle Triassic

The Middle Triassic is the middle epoch of the Triassic Period, spanning roughly 247 to 237 million years ago between the Early and Late Triassic.

Triassic: The first period of the Mesozoic Era, lasting from about 252 to 201 million years ago. The Middle Triassic is one of the Triassic Period’s three epochs.
Stratigraphy: The study of layered rocks and their relationships in time and space. Stratigraphic methods establish the sequence and boundaries of Middle Triassic deposits.

Ladinian: The second age of the Middle Triassic, lasting roughly from 242 to 237 million years ago. It ends the epoch before the Late Triassic begins.
Conodont: An extinct marine animal known chiefly from microscopic phosphatic feeding elements. Conodont species provide widely used markers for dating Triassic marine rocks.
