Mikhail Botvinnik

Mikhail Botvinnik was a Soviet chess grandmaster and engineer who held the World Chess Championship title three times between 1948 and 1963. He helped establish a systematic, scientific approach to chess preparation.

World Chess Championship 1948: A tournament in The Hague and Moscow that selected the world chess champion after Alexander Alekhine's death. Botvinnik won the tournament to become world champion.
