Knowra Mikis Theodorakis Mikis Theodorakis Mikis Theodorakis (1925–2021) was a Greek composer and political activist whose works ranged from symphonies and film scores to songs that became symbols of Greek identity and resistance.
Zorba the Greek : A 1964 film directed by Michael Cacoyannis, scored by Theodorakis and adapted from a novel by Nikos Kazantzakis. Its score, especially the sirtaki finale, carried Theodorakis’s music to a global audience.
