Minnesota

Minnesota is a U.S. state in the Upper Midwest, bordered by Canada and four other states. Its western boundary follows the Red River of the North for part of its length.

Upper Midwest: The northern-central region of the United States surrounding the western Great Lakes and upper Mississippi River. Minnesota is a central state in this regional grouping.
Dakota people: An Indigenous people of the northern Great Plains and Upper Midwest, including Minnesota. Dakota communities lived across much of the region before U.S. settlement and remain part of the state.

Dakota War of 1862: An armed conflict between Dakota people and the United States in Minnesota in 1862. The conflict and its aftermath profoundly shaped Dakota communities and Minnesota history.
Mayo Clinic: A nonprofit medical center headquartered in Rochester, Minnesota. Its growth made Minnesota an international center for specialized medical care.
